Copyright Policy

Fanfic writers and fan artists- please read!

You have the right to use the content of this website in any way you want as long as it complies with Fair Use.

"Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—

(1)the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;

(2)the nature of the copyrighted work;

(3)the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and

(4)the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.

The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors."

- 17 U.S. Code § 107 - Limitations on exclusive rights: Fair use (emphasis mine)

This means that you may use anything on this site as long as it is for scholarly or journalistic purposes. I openly encourage all readers to utilize this right.

You have my permission to create and even sell derivative works based upon the content of this site as long as it is sufficiently transformative, you credit me as the creator of Neko Neko Nana and it is not an NFT.

What does "sufficiently transformative" mean?

For images:

- You may create artwork based on my character designs as long as you use your own unique visual style.

- You may create artwork that closely mimics my own visual style as long as the character(s) being drawn is/are not my own.

- You may NOT use unmodified or insufficiently modified images of my artwork for commercial purposes (don't put my art on a T-shirt to sell.)

- You may NOT create and publicly share or sell artwork that closely mimics my own visual style and uses my characters because that can cause confusion about authenticity.

- Do not use the contents of this website to create any non-fungible token (NFT) content. Digital collectibles and monetized digital downloads are okay as long as they are not on the blockchain.

- Do not trace my artwork for any commercial purposes.

- If you are selling fan merchandise that follows these rules online, you are allowed to use "Neko Neko Nana", my character names and my place names in the listing title and description as long as you acknowledge that Neko Neko Nana is my creation. Try pasting this phrase at the end of the listing description:

Neko Neko Nana is created by Miranda Attales (OceanblueArt.) Titles, names, and designs are used here with the creator's permission.

You may use my artwork in a non-transformative way for non-commercial personal use.

- For example, you can print out one of my illustrations and hang it on your wall- I won't come after you.

- You may trace my artwork for drawing practice, but do not share the traced artwork online or in any other public space.

For text and concepts:

- You may write original literature that is based on this story, its characters, and its original worldbuilding concepts, in any medium. Comics and manga must follow the guidelines for images.

- You are free to share and sell this literature in any space or format, such as fanfiction websites or selling zines in-person.

- You may quote my writing in a commercial work as long as the quote(s) are cumulatively 200 words or less.

I do not consent to the use of the contents of this website for generative artificial intelligence algorithm inputs. Please do not use GenAI to create Neko Neko Nana fanworks. However, you may use non-generative artificial intelligence tools to assist you in creating fanworks, such as an AI-powered object eraser.
